Ferbane Business & Technology Park is to receive €595,000 this year as part of Just Transition funding
The Ferbane recycling company Kentek Systems Ltd is planning an expansion of its operations.
The February meeting of Offaly County Council was told that Kentek is acquiring extra property in Ferbane Business Park, with a view to expansion and creating more jobs.
The meeting was told by a member of the Executive, Andrew Murray, that the Council had received an application from Brian Kenny of Kentec to purchase site 14 in Ferbane Business Park.
Kentek is currently based in the adjacent site 13, having purchased that site previously from the Council in 2018. They manufacture bespoke recycling machinery for companies to recover and convert recyclable waste into valuable materials.
“Kentek provides a full turnkey service,” said Mr Murray, “from design and manufacturing to installation and maintenance, for both Irish and export markets and are a valuable resident of Ferbane Business Park. Mr Kenny has outlined his plans for the proposed site, sale of which will consolidate existing jobs and create further skilled jobs in the local area.”
The Council agreed to dispose of site number 14 for €55,000 to Mr Kenny.
