Offaly pub has epic reply to 'Yank' talking 'sh*te' about pollution over celebration act

A well-known Offaly pub had the perfect response after a "Yank keyboard warrior" criticised their lighthearted celebration video for reaching 10,000 Instagram followers.

JJ Hough’s pub in Banagher, famed for its annual Christmas adverts and witty online presence, recently celebrated reaching 10,000 followers on Instagram by releasing two balloons, a '1' and a '0', into the air to mark their achievement.

While the short video was met with an overwhelmingly positive response, with many moving to congratulate the pub, one user took issue with the act, branding it environmentally irresponsible.

The user voiced concerns about the impact of balloon releases, calling them “flying trash” and urging the pub to “help us do better.”

Replying to the video on Instagram, user @coastaljenb said: “Well, shit. Minus…how many? I hate those f’ing mylar balloons. People release them and they knock out power, land deep in the forest and are basically flying trash. You’ve got 10k followers now. Can you help us do better?”

Addressing the comment in their latest video, Ger Hough teased the pub’s reply to what he labelled as “some Yank keyboard warrior” who commented “sh*te” on their 10,000 followers video. 

In an equally well-constructed and hilarious reply, Hough’s hit back at the user’s high and mighty claims, detailing their less than environmentally-friendly impacts before branding them a “virtue signalling hypocrite”. 

“After a brief look at your own page I see you’re wearing an Adidas Cap, which is made from Polyester, which remains many hundreds of years after you kick the bucket, that hat will remain in landfill until some poor fox or horse tries to eat it but chokes,” their reply began.

“I also see you are into Cars and Jeeps. Your BMW emits roughly 4.6 metric tones [sic] of carbon dioxide each year, not to mention the other cars and Jeeps you seem to have. 

“I’d say mother nature weeps every time she sees you waddling toward one of your gas guzzling vehicles.

“If all you derived from a small independent business’s video celebrating 10k followers, is a critical judgement about two small balloons being bad for the environment, then you need to examine your own life first, you virtue signaling [sic] hypocrite.”
