Still no lighting along path to Ashling Murphy memorial in Tullamore

The memorial on the Grand Canal near Tullamore where Ashling Murphy was murdered.

The issue of lighting along the canal line in Tullamore to the Ashling Murphy Memorial was raised at a recent meeting of Offaly County Council

During the February meeting of Offaly County Council, Cllr Aoife Masterson asked for an update to the proposal to install lighting along the Grand Canal Way from the Fiona Pender to the Ashling Murphy memorials.

“It's now three years since the commitment to light the route was made and nothing has happened,” she remarked.

A member of the Council Executive told her that the route will need an EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) before the lights are installed.
