An eight-year-old rugby fan from Offaly made the trip west to cheer on Connacht Rugby in their United Rugby Championship (URC) clash against Cardiff over the weekend.

Scott Maeliff, from Tullamore, was captured by Sportsfile's photographer showing his passion for the game at the Dexcom Stadium in Galway ahead of the match on Saturday, February 15.

Dressed in full Connacht colours and sporting a green beanie, Scott's enthusiasm was evident as he geared up to watch his side end a four-game losing streak.

The young supporter was among a strong crowd that turned out to back Connacht as they faced the Welsh side in a crucial URC fixture.

Connacht made a strong start to the game, racing into a 19-0 lead in the early second half, before Cardiff mounted a comeback to draw level in the final ten minutes.

Despite the late scare, Connacht held their nerve to claim a crucial victory, ending a four-game losing streak and reigniting their campaign with seven rounds to go.
