Another large solar farm in Offaly given the green lightr farm
Another large solar farm on a 29.75ha site in Offaly has been given the green light.
Located on the outskirts of Clara off the Curragh Road, the The development will consist of approximately 38,000 panels on ground mounted metal frames with a maximum height above ground of 3.17 metres.
Also on site will be 38kV substation including an MV switch room, IPP control room, an ESB switch room, and associated electrical infrastructure.
There will also be transformer units, underground cabling and ducting, a temporary construction compound and ancillary facilities for the duration of the construction phase of the project as well as perimeter fencing and CCTV.
Site access will be off the Curragh Road (L20171) and there will be internal tracks, site landscaping and all associated site enabling and site development works.
The application sought a 10-year permission with an operational lifetime of 35 years.
Offaly County Council granted permission with a total of 26 conditions attached. Details of the decisions were not available at the time of writing.
