Man sent forward for trial to Tullamore Circuit Court
A man charged with money laundering was sent forward for trial to Tullamore Circuit Court when he appeared at last week's district court.
Sergeant Brendan Kearns served the book of evidence on Marcin Plop, Apt 4, The Whitehouse, Edenderry.
Mr Plop is charged with engaging in ''converting, transferring, handling, acquiring possessing or using property that is the proceeds of criminal conduct, knowing or being reckless as to whether or not the property was the proceeds of criminal conduct,'' at various dates from February to December 2023 at Allied Irish Bank, JKL Street, Edenderry and O'Connell Street, Edenderry. The amount of money involved was €25,500 in various amounts and there were 12 charges in total.
Judge Andrew Cody told Mr Plop he was sending him forward to the next sitting of Tullamore District Court at 11am on March 3, 2025. He told him if he intends to call any witnesses then he must inform the prosecution within 14 days of last Wednesday's court.
An application for free legal aid was questioned by Judge Cody who said Mr Plop, who works at traffic management, lives at home, has very little outgoings and no rent to pay. Barrister for Mr Plop said he was paying €200 in rent.
Judge Cody asked if he was in a position to produce a bank statement. Not today his barrister replied. Judge Cody remanded Mr Plop on bail on his own bond of €200.
