Offaly man sent for trial accused of alleged €34,000 drugs offence

Twenty-nine-year-old also charged in connection with possession of compressor and weighing scales

Man sent forward to Tullamore Circuit Court

A MAN has been sent for trial at the next sitting of Tullamore Circuit Court accused of having suspected drugs worth in excess of €13,000 for sale or supply in Edenderry.

Conor Dunne (29), Cokery Lane, Edenderry appeared before Tullamore District Court last week where a book of evidence was served on him by Sergeant Brendan Kearns.

Mr Dunne is alleged to have committed a number of drug related offences at 8A Cokery Lane, Edenderry on November 22, 2023.

He is accused of possessing cannabis and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) for sale or supply to others, plus possession of cannabis, THC and cocaine.

Mr Dunne is further accused of possessing benzocaine, a red hydraulic compressor and a black weighing scales in circumstances giving rise to the inference that the possession is connected to a drug trafficking offence.

Another charge alleges he possessed cannabis worth in excess of €13,000 for sale or supply to others.

Judge Andrew Cody was told the estimated value of the suspected cannabis was €34,000.

At a previous sitting Judge Cody said he would not accepting jurisdiction in the case and added that the DPP should give the directions quickly.

Sergeant Kearns said the DPP had consented for Mr Dunne to be returned to the Circuit Court on March 11 next.

Judge Cody returned the accused to Tullamore Circuit Court sitting on that date.

Mr Dunne is on bail and among the conditions of the bail are that he reside at Cokery Lane, observe a curfew from 10pm to 5am, sign on twice a week at Tullamore Garda Station and surrender his passport.
