Motorist who reversed into pedestrian in Tullamore charged with careless driving

A male pedestrian was struck by a reversing car, the recent sitting of Tullamore Court heard.

Christopher Lynam, Drumone, Castletown Geoghegan, Mullingar was charged with careless driving on William Street, Tullamore on April 24 last.

Sgt Brendan Kearns said Mr Lynam was reversing his car into a parking spot and failed to see a pedestrian who started to cross the road as he was making the reversing manoeuvre.

The pedestrian's hip was injured in the accident. Judge Cody convicted and fined €500.
