A song from Tullamore musician RíRá has been chosen as the theme tune for RTÉ's coverage of the Euro 2024 Football Finals.

The tune, by Ken Geoghegan, whose band Scary Éire were pioneers of the Irish hip hop scene in the 1990s, will feature during RTE's coverage of the football festival in the coming weeks.

Confirming the news on social media, RíRá joked that he thought his Da would've preferred if he had been a professional footballer.
"What he got was the wrong half of George Best. So this is as close as it gets," he posted on social media.
He confirmed that his song 'What Goes On' will be the theme for this year's Euro Football Finals coverage on RTE, starting on  June 14th.
"Back of the net Da," he added.

As a musical artist, RíRá is highly regarded as a major influence on future bands. Scary Éire opened for U2 on their Zooropa tour in the RDS and were once signed to Island records.

The band was critically acclaimed and numbered late-greats Shane MacGowan and Sinéad O'Connor among their many fans.
