Taking part in the Banagher College Golf Classic at Birr Golf Club were Josh Horan, Tom Moylan, Paul Brophy and Jan Palacz.
BANAGHER College Golf Classic took place on Friday 19th September in Birr Golf Club and they were blessed by great weather and a wonderful turn out. They had twenty eight teams in total.
Congratulations to Nick Claffey, Vinnie Costelloe, Jim Killeen and Cathal Rodgers who won first prize, a lovely set of Golf Bags which were purchased in Mikey Horan’s Golf Shop.
Albert Dunican, Shane Murphy, Trevor Mahon and Ciaran Grogan came second and won green fees for four in Ceann Sibéal in Dingle.
Vincent Liffey, Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher, John and Darragh Moylan came third and won a fourball in the beautiful Ashford Castle course.
Keith and Paul Hogan, Ken Killeen and Damian Howe came fourth and won green fees for four in Esker Hills, Tullamore.
Stephen Larkin, Karl Lyons, Damian McDermott and John Larkin came fifth and will play again in Birr Golf Club.
Devon, Benny and Brandon Beale along with Frank Touhey came sixth and won a fourball in Portumna Golf course.
Declan Ryan, Paddy Hogan, Angela Kelly and Brendan Carroll came seventh and won a fourball in Rathdowney Golf Club.
Current Pupil, Ivan Grant won Longest Drive and Dermot Moylan won nearest the pin. Both received a voucher for Grennans.

Raffle
Our fabulous first prize in the raffle was a night for two in the Waterford Marina Hotel kindly arranged by Siobhán Bowe. Congratulations to Nick Bracken who was the lucky winner.
Aileen McCormack won a lovely hamper sponsored by CGH Pharmacy Banagher.
Ann MacMahon won a bottle of Baileys kindly donated by Declan Tanner.
Tara Banassadi and Frankie Kenny each won a bottle of wine, kindly sponsored by Dermot and Mary Duffy, Eyrecourt.
Appreciation
Many thanks to everyone who played golf on Friday, congratulations to those who won prizes and sincere thanks to all who sponsored teams, prizes and tee boxes and purchased tickets in the raffle. Your contribution is much appreciated.
Thanks to Birr Golf Club for hosting them, the course was in superb condition and it was great to have Vincent Liffey, the Club Captain playing with them. Thanks to Francie and Brian behind the bar for keeping them entertained throughout. Well done to James of Lavender House catering and his staff for providing the lovely meal which was very tasty and well received. Thanks to the Transition Year students; Ailbhe Martin, Aoibhe Doyle, Amber Gohery, Lilli Claffey, Isobel Davis, Caitlin Cooney and Saoirse Coughlan who were a great help in preparation of the event and during the day. It was great to see so many staff, present and past students and parents of present and past students there too, thanks for your support.
Thanks to Paddy Scales and Gerry Quirke for their practical help which made the day run smoothly. Thanks also to Donal Moran for putting up the large signs. Thanks to Aileen and Siobhán in the office for everything they did to help.

Many thanks to Mairéad McIntyre for her help and advice and to Cormac Moylan for all his help on the day and in advance of the Golf Classic, his experience and expertise were invaluable. Sincere thanks to Miss Kinahan and Mr Shanahan for their assistance in facilitating the Golf Classic again this year. Finally, to the woman who made it all happen, Ms Kathleen Gleeson who has put in Trojan work for months beforehand, assembling teams and liaising with all the shareholders, a fantastic job, all done with a smile. They have a wonderful school community.
