Colaiste Choilm, Tullamore second year hurlers made the trip to St Patrick’s GAA in Ballyragget to face off against some of the strongest “A” hurling schools in Leinster on Thursday morning in an invitational tournament.
The lads opened their morning with a 3-5 to 0-3 victory over Good Council College of New Ross.
In the second game of the day it was an Offaly Combined Schools selection who came out on top after a good battle with the scoreline reading 1-9 to 1-3.
Kilkenny CBS were next on the list in a repeat of last years first year Leinster final and it was once again the Colaiste Choilm men who came out on top on a 4-4 to 2-5 scoreline.
The final clash of the day saw the Tullamore based school face off against the famed hurling stronghold of St Kieran’s Kilkennny, managed by Kilkenny star Eoin Cody. It was the men in red and blue who came out on top in this clash out scoring their opponents 3-3 to 1-1.
Overall this was a savage days hurling for the Colaiste Choilm lads to get ahead of their championship campaign which commences in early January.
Accompanied by a management team of Martin Buggy, Ann Molloy, Johnno Kinahan and Jack Daly the lads all saw plenty of action throughout the day.
Following the tournament the players and management were treated to a lovely few words from Eoin Cody who spoke to the players about chasing their dreams and keeping at the games, working on their skills. He also told the lads of how impressed he was with their performances throughout the day and the way they applied themselves.
