A gentleman and a mentor' - Tributes pour in following death of beloved grandfather from Offaly

Willie (Billy) Dooley passed away on Tuesday

Tributes have poured in following the death of beloved father and grandfather, Willie (Billy) Dooley, from Kilmaine, Clareen, Birr, Offaly who passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 7, surrounded by his loving family, in his 78th year.

Predeceased by his grand-son Ruaírí, brothers; Tommy, Kieran and Sean and his sisters Rita and Bridget.

Willie will be sadly missed by his loving wife Maureen, children Enda, Deirdre and Brendan, son-in-law Joe, daughter-in-law Pauline, Enda’s partner Cora, grandchildren; Neasa, Clíona, Órla, Tadhg and Oisín, sister Maureen (Babsie), brother Joe, in-laws, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Heartfelt condolences have poured in on RIP.ie from those who knew and remembered Willie, with one mourner writing,

"Sincere sympathy to Maureen and family on the sad passing of Willie. A great friend and mentor to me in my early farming years. May his gentle soul Rest In Peace."

Another wrote: "Deepest sympathy to Maureen, Deirdre, Brendan and Enda on the loss of Willie, he always gave very helpful and practical advise and made a big contribution to farmers and farming in Offaly. May Willie rest in peace."

While another added: "Sincere sympathy to immediate and extended families of Willie .Ultimate gentleman who gave help and advice above the call of duty .May his gentle soul rest in peace."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing at his son Brendan’s home in Clareen (R42 T295) on Wednesday evening from 5pm -7pm.

Removal from his residence on Thursday morning to arrive at Seir Kieran’s Church, Clareen at 10.45am. for Funeral Mass at 11.am followed by burial in the local cemetery.

House Private on Thursday morning please.
