THE magic of Christmas is set to return to Tullamore as the town’s Christmas Market and Big Switch-On begins on Fridays November 21 and continues to Sunday, November 23rd.
The festive weekend will feature local craft and food stalls, in O Connor Square from 3pm Friday 21. On Sunday there will be plenty of live entertainment, family fun, and Christmas cheer, all building up to the Big Switch-On of the Christmas lights at 6pm on Sunday, November 23.
Organised entirely by a voluntary committee, the Tullamore Christmas Festival has grown into one of the town’s most loved annual events, attracting thousands of visitors and creating a major boost for local businesses in the run-up to Christmas.
However, the organisers are appealing to local businesses and the wider community to get behind this year’s celebrations by contributing to the Christmas Lights Fund.
“This event takes months of work and planning from our volunteers,” said John Leavy, chairperson for the organising committee. “Every euro raised goes directly into the lights, entertainment, and market infrastructure. We understand times are tough for many businesses, but even the smallest donation makes a real difference. Together, we can keep the heart of Tullamore shining bright for everyone.”
Businesses who wish to make a larger contribution can also become event sponsors, with recognition available at key locations.
The committee is encouraging everyone, families, friends, and businesses to come out and support this special community celebration that brings joy and energy to the town every year.
