Local drama group brings 'The Mating Season' to the Citeaux Hall

BALLYSKENACH Drama Group return to the stage of the Citeaux Hall (E53 AE02) in Ballyskenach on Thursday February 20th to Saturday February 22nd at 8.15pm each evening with 'The Mating Season'.

Over the years they have produced some of the Irish greats including, The Field, Sive & Big Maggie. However, this year is the turn of Sam Cree's hilarious comedy – The Mating Season. Over the past three decades Ballyskenach Drama Group have welcomed thousands to the Citeaux Hall, never leaving the loyal crowds disappointed and this year will be no different! After months of rehearsing and reading the scripts they are ready for the stage!

'The Mating Season' is set in the 1970s in Dublin with Sidney Gillespie, a widower, who decides he wants to get married again and has Mrs Morley in his sights. She has a chain of shops, and he has a factory that could supply them, so it seems like a match made in Heaven! However, she is not prepared to move into a house with his two sons, his uncle and housekeeper. A plot full of twists and turns will be sure to have you in stitches with laughter!

The local cast is reshuffled once again with the addition of local ladies Noreen Havatitye & Laura O'Hara. The starting strong team of 10 has Gerry McAuliffe as Sidney Gillespie, Noreen Havatitye as Stella Morley, Laura O'Hara as Vanessa Morley, Betty Murphy as Mrs Jameson (Housekeeper), Kathleen Fitzgerald as Violet Harris, Orlaith Middleton as Babs Nixon, Mairead King as Helga Herdman, Jim Bolger as Fred Woods, Kevin Tuohy as Mervyn Gillespie and John Doherty as Robin Gillespie. The play is co-produced by Sally Carney & Jimmy Middleton with continuity by Colm Lalor.

The production will begin at 8.15pm sharp each evening however, booking is essential please call/ text (087) 710 7307 to secure your seat. There will be a raffle on the night and refreshments served afterwards. Proceeds on the night will go to local causes.
