'So wrong' - Viewers outraged by the latest Dancing with the Stars elimination

Joanna Donnelly was the third celebrity eliminated from RTÉ's Dancing with the Stars on Sunday night. 

In keeping with the Eurovision fever this weekend following the special episode of The Late Late Show which saw the selection of this year's entry to the contest on Friday night, the celebrities took to the stage to dance along to some of Eurovision's most iconic songs. EMMY, who will represent Ireland at Eurovision 2025, even appeared under the glitterball on Sunday. 

Joanna Donnelly and her dancing partner Maciej Zieba brought the audience back to 1974 with their performance to Abba's classic hit Waterloo. The pair were on the bottom of the score table on Sunday however and faced Aishah Akorede and Robert in the dance-off.

Unfortunately for the weather woman, it was her last performance of the show. Speaking after her elimination, Joanna said: "I had a ball and I can't believe I'm going home, I can't believe this is over. I'm really devastated."

Some fans of the show, however, disagreed with the judges' decision. On social media, one person wrote: "So wrong Joanna should still be there, she danced so well." Another agreed by saying: "Joanna should be still there she danced so good."

Others argued that celebrity chef Kevin Dundon should have been on the chopping board this week instead of the meteorologist. One person said: "Absolute joke. How is Kevin Dundon still in?" Although some defended the chef, saying he was "great entertainment" and someone else chimed in to say: "I will stop watching when Kevin goes."

The highest scorer on the night was fan favourite Olympic gymnast Rhys McClenaghan and his pro partner Laura Nolan who danced a Quickstep to Norway’s 2009 winning Eurovision entry Fairytale by Alexander Rybak. His "excellent" performance scored an almost-perfect 39 points, with one person commenting on X to say it "should have been 40 points."

Mrs. Brown’s Boys star Danny O’Carroll and his pro partner Salome Chachua weren't far behind on the leader board with 36 points. They danced Contemporary Ballroom to The Netherlands 2019 winner and viral hit Arcade by Duncan Laurence, which judge Arthur Gourounlian said was "mesmerising and spellbinding!"
 
Fans praised the "stunning performance" online, with some saying it was "the best dance of the night."
