Tullamore post office back to normal after lunchtime closures

There has been no permanent change to the opening hours at the post office in Tullamore, An Post has stated.

A spokesman for An Post said the post office had been closed during lunch “for a couple of days” because of an “unavoidable staff absence”.

Customers arriving at Tullamore post office at lunchtime up to last Friday discovered that it was closed.

A notice on the doors of the post office in the town centre indicated that from Monday, October 20 to Thursday, October 23 inclusive, the office would be closed between 12.50pm and 2pm for lunch.

The notice said normal hours would resume on Friday, October 24 but one customer believed this was not the first week opening had been restricted.

“It was the same last week and it's a fairly serious reduction in service for [the] post office,” said the man.

The post office is located on O'Connor Square and also has entrance doors from the Bridge Centre.

Another notice on the door lists the normal opening hours as 9am to 5.30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 9.30am to 5.30pm on Tuesdays, apart from the first Tuesday of every month when it opens at 9am.

The post office is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

An Post thanked its Tullamore customers for their patience and cooperation.
