Fire at house in Tullamore

OFFALY fire service has extinguished a major fire at a vacant house in Tullamore.

The blaze broke out on Saturday evening at a property beside the Aldi store on the Cloncollig/Geashill road in the town.

Fire fighters from units of the fire brigade were still working at the bungalow after 10pm but the flames had been doused.

It is not yet known what caused the fire.

The property  is a detached dwelling so neither the house next door - which is also empty - or the Aldi supermarket were affected.
