National Ploughing Championships edge closer as organisers host AGM

A new assistant NPA Assistant Managing Director was elected

Managing Director of the National Ploughing Association, Anna May McHugh, was in attendance recently as the organisation held their AGM.

It is now just four months out from the 2018 National Ploughing Championships, which will once again be held in Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

As such, the NPA had a number of pieces of business to take care off, including the election of World Champion Ploughman John Whelan from Wexford as the newest NPA Assistant Managing Director.

Also in attendance were NPA President James Sutton, Tom Fahey NPA Trustee, NPA Chairman Dennis Keohane and NPA Exhibition Manager Louise Cunningham.

Preparation are already underway for this year's ploughing with exhibitors and contractors being sought from all over the world to turn the Screggan site into Europe's largest outdoor event from September 18-20.

Approximately 300,000 people will be expected to attend the event over the three days.
