WATCH: Tullamore win U17 Leinster relay in nail-biting finish

Tullamore Harriers' U17 girls sprinting team were in scintillating form as they took gold at the U17 4x200 relay at the Leinster Relays in Abbottstown at the weekend.

It was a straight final with six teams taking part but Grainne Lawlor, Katelyn Farrelly, Shauna Slattery, Katie Bourke and Kate Cunningham (sub) were too good for their rivals.

The club praised the team for the training they have put in since Christmas.

The Tullamore girls took the lead and with good baton exchanges they held that lead all the way over the four legs despite the fast-finishing runners-up.

Tullamore took the gold medal in a time of 1 min 45.72 seconds.

It was a great performance on the day with an improvement of six seconds on the same team's time last year.
