Met Éireann has delayed making a decisions on declaring Status Red Weather Warning for Thursday and Friday ahead of the arrival of the Beast from the East storm which it still expects to bring substantial snow to Ireland.
Any decision is not now likely to be made until Wednesday morning after a meeting of the National Emergency Coordination Group on Severe Weather.
Met Éireann forecaster Evelyn Cusack told a press briefing after the group's meeting on Tuesday that more detailed charts would be looked at to assess the situation before a decision is reached.
