You won't believe what was stolen from pub in the Midlands

A Laois publican has shared a security video showing the incredible daylight theft of an unexpected item.

“One man’s loss is another man’s gain. In this instances it’s a woman’s gain,”  the Mountmellick pub quips.

Moloney's Gaelic Pub shared their footage on their Facebook page and gained a lot of views and comments, ranging from the shocked to the witty. 

It shows a woman walking on the street who stops to pick up the pub doormat before heading on down the street with it.

"She might have dirty hands but her feet will be clean after wiping them on her new mat," one local said.

"What's the MATter with people these days" another asks.

"Bringing tidy towns to a new level fair play I bet it will be spotless when she brings it back," another said.

"I better bring back the ashtrays," another joker said.

"That’s the worst of them mats with Welcome on them," was another brilliant comment.

The good news is that the doormat was swiftly returned after the video was posted. The pub has since posted a video with the soundtrack Return of the Mac.
