How best to celebrate and commemorate Shane Lowry's latest golf heroics in his home town?

Irish Open winner in 2009, champion of The Open in 2019 and now the man who sensationally sank the putt which ensured that Europe retained the Ryder Cup.

In a social media post fellow Clara man and member of the European Parliament Barry Cowen (pictured below on the left with golfer Seamus Power) wrote the following: “This all time hero from our little town has just won the Ryder Cup for Europe !!! A sporting Legend. It’s Statue time now for sure in the Square.”

The statue of the Duke of Cumberland that originally stood at the summit was removed in 1915.
