THE Friends of Tullamore Hospital have appealed for people to nominate them for the €1 million Community Fund supporting local charities launched recently by AIB.

The six charities who have the highest nominations from the public will receive €20,000 and a further €6,000 if nominated by AIB employees.

The Friends of Tullamore Hospital is a long established charity which has raised tens of thousands of euro for the hospital.

They are a registered charity – charity number 20016968 – and their region in the AIB Community Fund is Rest of Leinster, outlined Ger Lane, Secretary of the Friends.

The closing date for nominations is this Wednesday, June 25, so people are asked to nominate without delay.

Meanwhile registered charities across the Midlands have been strongly encouraged to consider seeking a nomination from the public for financial assistance through the AIB Community Fund by Independent TD Carol Nolan.

The fund has a budget of €1 million for 2025.

Registered charities can ask anyone, including AIB customers, employees, and the general public to nominate them.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for a registered charity in Offaly to receive vital funding,” said Deputy Nolan.

“There are some conditions however that people should be aware of. These include the fact that charities that received funding in the previous three years are ineligible for nomination while projects related to religious or political activities or where animals are the primary beneficiaries, are also ineligible.”

“Nominations typically open in mid-May and close end-June. They must be nominated by the public and they cannot nominate themselves.”

However, a charity can be nominated multiple times by different individuals thereby increasing its chances of being shortlisted.”

“Eligible charities have nothing to lose and everything to gain,” concluded Deputy Nolan.
