Annual Birr event has a very popular Dog Show

Birr Summer Fete

Participants enjoying the produce on offer at last year's St Brendan's Fete.

EVERYONE is warmly invited & welcome, in Birr and beyond, to this year's Birr Summer Fete, to be held this weekend.
Speaking to the Tribune, Rev Arthur Minion Rector of the Birr Group of Parishes urged everyone attending to “please also bring your friends!”
The annual St Brendan’s Summer Fete is very popular with all the generations of attendees. It will once again be held at the Birr Rugby Club. The date for this sociable, easy-going and uplifting community happening will be Saturday, the 14th of June. The starting time will be 1.00pm.
Reverend Arthur said he and the hard working organisers are “very much looking forward to a fun filled day”.
The energetic and hard working Rector pointed out that the Annual Quiz Sheet and Colouring Competition is in circulation. For a mere €2 contribution per sheet, the prizes for adults, and for children, are generous.
For your calendars and diaries - The Important Information on the familiar main features of this Summer's Fête are as follows:
On Site Catering : Afternoon Teas and Barbeque.
Stalls Include: Flowers and Plants, Cakes, White Elephant, Books, Crafts Stall, Pot Luck Stall, Vintage Clothes & Accessories, Toys, 2 Trailer Loads of Solid Fuel for Raffle, Hampers for Raffle and much more.
Other Attractions include: Pony Rides, A Pet Dog Show, Crock of Gold, Bowling and Youth Games, Face Painting, Guess the Weight of the Cake, Youth Field Games & Races (medals awarded) and much more.
Details of the Pet Dog Show are as follows:
Please note changes: Classes: €3-00ea. or choice of 5 classes: €10-00.
All dogs catered for in a variety of classes. Prizes and Rosettes awarded.
Dog Classes as follows:
1. Best small dog/bitch,
2. Best large dog/bitch, 3. Best veteran dog/bitch,
4. Best child handler (National School Age),
5. Best cross bred dog/bitch,
6. Best Pedigree Dog/Bitch.
7. Best trick by dog/bitch,
8. Best Fancy Dress dog/bitch,
9. Best Rescue dog/bitch,
10. Dog/bitch the Judge would most like to take home.
Champion: Best in Show. Reserve Champion: Reserve Best in Show.
Pony Rides:
The pony rides will operate from 1.30pm - 3.30pm.
All are warmly invited and very welcome to participate in the Dog Show.
