142 Ukrainian people to arrive at Inchmore House from this month
From this month onwards 142 beds will be provided for those fleeing the war in Ukraine at Inchmore House (Phase 2), Kilcoursey, Clara.
All statutory requirements relating to the establishment and management of emergency accommodation are being met by the service provider, including health and safety, fire, building regulations and other requirements.
The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth says, ''The safety and security of the BOTP (beneficiaries of temporary protection) residents is of paramount importance.''
The Department will also manage the arrival of people into Inchmore House. The contract with this centre will be for a period of 24 months.
The accommodation at Inchmore House is being delivered in 2 phases. The accommodation will host up to 230 people in total. Inchmore House Phase 1 was completed in June 2024 and has 88 bedspaces.
Inchmore House Phase 2 will be available this month and has 142 bedspaces.
Under a revised policy, from Thursday March 14 this year, new arrivals from Ukraine who seek accommodation from the State will be offered a maximum of 90 days in State- supported accommodation in ‘designated accommodation centres’. These changes will not affect people from Ukraine who arrived in Ireland before this policy came into force and are already registered for temporary protection.
The people who will stay at Inchmore House arrived in Ireland prior to the implementation of this new policy.
The Department says most of the new arrivals into Clara will be women and children.
