Four Offaly groups received €18,700 boost under Community Integration fund

Four Offaly groups - Offaly Music Generation (€5,000), Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service (€5,000), Tullamore Camogie Club (€5,000), and Tullamore Tidy Towns (€3,700) – have successfully applied to the Community Integration Fund

Four Offaly groups - Offaly Music Generation (€5,000), Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service (€5,000), Tullamore Camogie Club (€5,000), and Tullamore Tidy Towns (€3,700) – have successfully applied to the Community Integration Fund.

This fund is dedicated to supporting the integration of migrant and host communities, and these groups have shown outstanding dedication to the spirit of inclusion and community building.

Welcoming the news, the Cathaoirleach of Offaly County council, Cllr Tony McCormack stated: " Offaly Music Generation has been a beacon of cultural integration through music. This initiative not only nurtures creativity but also promotes understanding and appreciation of different cultural heritages.

Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service is instrumental in providing support to vulnerable individuals within the community, ensuring that services are accessible to everyone and are vital in fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all.

Tullamore Camogie Club is making significant strides in promoting a traditional Irish sports as a means of community integration and a platform for cultural exchange.

Tullamore Tidy Towns has successfully brought together volunteers from diverse backgrounds to enhance the town with their community clean-up initiatives and planting projects not only are they improving the physical surroundings but also encourage cooperation and friendships among residents.

Each of these groups has demonstrated an outstanding ability to engage both migrant and host communities through their diverse and inclusive activities.

The Community Integration Fund aims to foster strong, vibrant, and cohesive communities by supporting initiatives that bring people from different backgrounds together. The work done by these groups is truly commendable, "Their efforts not only integrate migrant and host communities but also enrich the overall cultural fabric of our county. We are grateful for their dedication and look forward to the continued positive impact of their projects."
