Tullamore Electoral Area is home to the largest number of Ukrainians refugees CSO figures show

Number of Ukrainians now living in Offaly totals over 1,800

The total number of Ukrainian refugees living in Offaly under the Temporary Protection Directive now stands at 1,808 according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office released last week.

The figures broken down to the county's three electoral areas show 962 Ukrainians resident in the Tullamore area, 648 in Birr and 198 in Edenderry.

The latest CSO population estimates show the number of people usually resident in Offaly now stands at 86,328 with Tullamore Electoral Area having a population of 32,767.

The Birr area now has a population of 26,137 while there are 27,424 people resident in the Edenderry area.

The average age of people in the county is 37.9 years.

Of the county's working age population, 87.5 per cent are in employment which amounts to 37,641 people.

A total of 12.5 pc of people of working are listed as unemployed, or 5,381 persons.
