An Offaly man has been elected President of the National Ploughing Association (NPA).

Mick Mahon, from Killoughey, was elected President at the NPA's annual general meeting earlier this week.

Mick has been involved with the association for many decades and was also a talented plough man who won many competitions both locally, at county level, nationally and internationally.

He was to the forefront of bringing the national championships to different venues in Offaly.

Also elected at the body's AGM was new Chairman, John Deery, from county Monaghan.

Our photograph shows NPA Managing Director Anna May McHugh congratulates the newly elected NPA Chairman John Deery, on this historic occasion as it is the first time ever the Chairman is from Monaghan, and the newly elected NPA President, Mick Mahon, at the National Ploughing Association AGM.
