Athletes prepare for first round of the Offaly road series and runs in Banagher, Clara and Ferbane
It was a busy weekend for Naomh Mhuire runners. Rathdangan 5k, Colin Dunne 5k, and Naas 10 mile! On the cards this weekend!! The flag was truly out there all getting ready for next weekend for the start of the road series! 1st up was Rathdangan 5k.
RATHDANGAN 5K 3.3.24
We had 4 members travel to Rathdangan on a cold morning but dry thank god! With over 250 in the 5k event. Jimmy Coughlan bagged himself 1st place in the 5k event in a brilliant time of 17.42 John Kirwan was hot on his heels coming in 6th place in 19.42 Connie Leech came in 33.43 and Louise Wallace came 34.09 running with a friend. Congratulations Jimmy on 1st place and well done to all for Running.
COLIN DUNNE 5K 3.3.24
Held a bit earlier this year this is always a popular race for local clubs and locals in memory of the late Colin Dunne in Mucklagh. On a cold day we had 7 members take on the route getting ready for the start of the road series next weekend! Great turnout with over 200 taken this on starting at Mucklagh national school up the by pass and finishing at the School. Declan Murphy came in second place in a time of 18.18 next to cross was Evan Lynam 22.01 Owen og Scully 23.08 always supporting mam and dad Dympna O Hara 24.19 Enda Scully 24.42 Mary Rowan 28.30 Mairead 30.07 ran with her amazing daughter Pearl on her first official 5k 30.07 congratulations Pearl and Michelle Madden 31.19. Congratulations Declan on 2nd place! Well done to all that ran!
NAAS 10 MILE 3.3.24
On a cold afternoon we had two members travel to Naas to take on the 10 mile. Not a flat route as stated and a 7.5 loop and a 2.5 loop a little confusing but none the less the 2 ladies had a great run with Aileen Flynn in 1.16 and Aisling Farrell coming in at 1.42 well done ladies great running
CONDOLENSES
The club send their Deepest Condolences to member Ger Cleary his wife Aisling and boys Jack and Ronan and all of the Cleary families on the passing of Ger's mother Mary during the week. May her gentle soul rest in peace!
