Offaly Lions club to host coffee morning in aid of children's cancer charity in Tullamore

Lions President invited people to attend event in Bridge Centre next Saturday morning

The coffee morning takes place in Jenny's Kitchen, the Bridge Centre, from 10am to 2pm

Each year in Ireland, an average of 353 children, adolescents and young adults are diagnosed with cancer

This Saturday, join Tullamore Lions Club in Jenny's Kitchen for a heart warming coffee morning in support of Childhood Cancer Ireland from 10am to 2pm, upstairs in the Bridge Shopping Centre

Sip, chat, and make a difference. Every cup counts in our shared mission to bring hope and support to parents of children battling cancer.

As you enjoy your coffee find out more about this fantastic national organisation established and run by parents of children with cancer, to advocate for better supports and services for families and better outcomes for children.

Each year in Ireland, an average of 353 children, adolescents and young adults are diagnosed with cancer.

Anthony Kearns, President of Tullamore Lions Club: “Throughout the year, Tullamore Lions work with Childhood Cancer Ireland to bring our community in Tullamore together in solidarity with families affected by childhood cancer. Over the year, we help to raise funds to improve supports and services nationwide and to raise awareness of what it means to live with this disease. Cancer is the leading cause of death in children and adolescents around the world.”

Childhood Cancer Ireland provide a number of practical and emotional supports to children and families, including:

  • Beads of Courage and Sibling Beads Programme at the National Children’s Cancer Service in Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin.

  • Refurbishment of paediatric oncology isolation rooms in Shared Care facilities (in regional hospitals).

  • A series of workshops for parents which will enable parents to process what they have been through since their child was diagnosed and to begin to heal.

  • Parent peer support, which is a vital support to parents both during and after treatment.
