Planning is well under way for this year's St. Patrick's Day Parade in Tullamore, organisers have revealed.
The parade is being held on Sunday, March 17, starting at 11.30 a.m. The assembly point is the car park of the Bridge Centre and all entries are requested to be there by 11.00 a.m. at the latest.
The route is High St., Bridge St., Colmcille St., over the Kilbeggan Bridge onto Arden Road. The finish point is the GAA Centre.
"Last year we had a huge turnout of participants and the viewing public as we celebrated our 40th anniversary. We are looking forward to another great Parade this year and plans are already well advanced as major Bands have already confirmed their attendance," outlined Sean O' Brien, Parade Secretary.
"The theme for this year is "Éire, cultúr trí ceol, caint, craic agus síocháin ar fud an domhain.”.
The theme traslates as “Ireland, culture through music, chat, fun and peace throughout the world.
“We are asking all participants to reflect this theme in their entries. As war rages in many countries the parade is an opportunity for people to make a plea for peace"
The committee meets every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in St. Mary's Youth and Community Centre and new volunteers are always welcome.
