Work underway after fallen tree closes major road in Tullamore

Storm Isha causes havoc throughout county with 1,000 homes without power

A major road in Tullamore is closed due to a fallen tree. The tree fell during Storm Isha on Sunday evening last at the junction of Clonminch Road and New Road in the county town,

Work is currently being undertaken to clear the road which is the main artery linking Tullamore and Portlaoise.

Tree have fallen across Offaly and the Midlands including at Rahan, Cloghan and Rhode.

An ESB pole is positioned hanging across the road between the Bord na Mona premises and the bridge in Cloneygowan.

About 1,000 homes in Offaly are without power with ESB Networks saying it could be a number of days before power is fully restored.
