Students at Ballinagar NS who took part in the initiative
Fitness and healthy eating should start at a young age. That’s the message pupils at two schools in Offaly heard when they recently hosted the popular children’s fitness initiative “Fit Squad”
The “Fit Squad” initiative, supported by Fyffes and delivered by fitness expert Sharon Flanagan, took place recently at Gaelscoil an Eiscir Riada and Ballinagar NS.
Nationally the “Fit Squad” visits saw over 180 pupils participate in an active age-appropriate workout designed to improve their general fitness during which advice on the importance of healthy eating was given.
Running until next March, the current series will see some 10,000 pupils participate from schools throughout Ireland, north and south, increasing to almost 40,000 the number that will have taken part in the programme since it was introduced in 2018.
