Two men who allegedly injured another man over a dispute about scrap metal appeared at last week's district court.

Sergeant Brendan Kearns said that it's alleged that Dawid Ostasz, 26 Derrybeg, Edenderry and Wojiech Ostasz Cloncannon, Edenderry assaulted Mark McDonagh at George's Bridge, Edenderry.

An argument had arisen and the injured party fled. The defendants allegedly followed him and blocked the road. Dawid Ostasz is charged with producing an article capable of causing harm - a large stick covered in black tape. Wojiech Ostasz is charged with producing an axe during the course of the dispute. It's alleged that Mr McDonagh was injured on his head and required staples.

Judge Andrew Cody said he would accept jurisdiction. He adjourned the case to December 13, 2023 when the defendants will either have to plead guilty or be given a date for a hearing.
