'Stand by your Man' show comes to theatre in Offaly town

Tammy Wynette and George Jones were two of the biggest Stars ever in the world of Country Music.

Their songs are still as popular as ever with audiences world wide. With hits such as “ Stand by Your Man” “Apartment Number 9” “ Your Good Girls Gonna Go Bad” and many more, Tammy Wynette became a worldwide sensation. George Jones was the undisputed King of Country Music with his million selling hit songs including “ He Stopped Loving Her Today”, “ The Race is On” “ Who’s gonna fill their Shoes“ and “The Grand Tour”. The list of hits goes on and on.

Tammy and George also recorded several duets , which in turn became No. 1 hit songs from these two iconic stars , songs such as “ Golden Ring “ , “ We’re gonna hold on “ and “ My Elusive Dreams “ .

Award winning vocalist Trudi Lalor is now teaming up with Nashville legend Max T Barnes and a super live backing band to perform all the hits from these two Country Music icons in a fantastic show called “Stand By Your Man”, The songs and music of Tammy Wynette and George Jones”.

Trudi has been a fan of Tammy Wynette all her life and she recently fulfilled a lifelong ambition to actually record the iconic Tammy hit “ Stand By Your Man”. This new recording will be released to all radio stations and we believe it will prove hugely popular with lovers of classic country music everywhere.

Trudi says “ I was invited to perform the song on the Late Late Show last year and the reaction to that was amazing. Of course this year marks the 25th anniversary of the passing of the great Tammy Wynette, so I thought it would be appropriate to record and release a new version of her biggest hit. I am also honoured to have been invited to perform the songs and music of Tammy Wynette and George Jones in a concert tour in October. I am really looking forward to this and I am delighted to have the great Max T Barnes coming over from Nashville especially to perform the songs of George Jones as part of this tour. Of course Max and his dad Max D Barnes knew George Jones very well and wrote some of his biggest hits including “ Who’s Gonna fill Their Shoes?

They are performing concerts in the Birr Theatre, INEC Club Killarney, Tuar Ard Arts Theatre in Moate and The Theatre at the Horse and Jockey Hotel in Tipperary. I am really looking forward to meeting up with all the country music fans at these shows, it’s so exciting!”

Due to the phenomenal success of the recent TV series “ George and Tammy “ on Paramount TV, organisers know that “Stand by Your Man “ - The Songs and Music of Tammy Wynette and George Jones ,will be hugely popular with fans of real country music .
