Tullamore Basketball Club U18 girls shine bright – Three wins from three in a day of dominance

The Tullamore team

It was a day to remember for the Tullamore U18 girls basketball team, as they delivered an incredible display of skill, teamwork, and determination — winning all three of their National Cup group games in commanding fashion. The qualifiers were held in Cork over the weekend. The girls met Kildare Gliders, Fr. Mathews (Cork) and Moycullen (Galway), claiming convincing victory in all three games.

Each game showcased a different side of their game: fast-paced offense, relentless defence, and an unwavering will to win. Their ability to compete — and dominate — at this high level is a true testament to years of dedication, discipline, and hard work.

This success is also a moment of reflection and pride for the wider Tullamore basketball family. The late Coach Richie O’Mahoney, whose passion and guidance helped shape this group from their early years, would undoubtedly be beaming with pride at their achievements. His legacy lives on in the teamwork, spirit, and respect that define this team’s approach to the game.

The girls faced Meteors in their semi-final on Sunday and despite the success of the previous day, they lost out to a very strong side.
