Kind Of Blue bypasses Greenlands run due to minor issue

Kind Of Blue is likely to head straight to Royal Ascot after a “little niggle” scuppered plans for an intended reappearance in Ireland on Saturday week.

James Fanshawe’s son of Blue Point won the British Champions Sprint last autumn and was due to head to the Curragh for the Greenlands Stakes to tee-up a run in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Ascot.

However, connections will have to wait a little longer to see their sprinting star back in action, with owners Wathan Racing’s racing adviser Richard Brown saying: “He’s had a little niggle and he will miss Ireland.

“He should be fine for Royal Ascot and I think it’s most likely you will see him first time out there.”

Kind Of Blue finished fourth to Inisherin in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last year and is a best priced 8-1 to win the Group One feature on the final day of the meeting this time around, a race his trainer has claimed before with Society Rock (2011) and the colt’s relation The Tin Man (2017).

Brown added: “There is no better man than James Fanshawe to do the job with that family and we will plot into it and see if he will have an away day or something before Ascot.

“It’s a bit frustrating and it is only a minor issue, but it is enough to mean we can’t go to Ireland.”
