Football rumours: Xabi Alonso on Manchester City’s managerial shortlist

What the papers say

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso, 42, is on Manchester City’s list of potential replacements if Pep Guardiola opts to leave, according to the Daily Mail. Ruben Amorim, 39, who is in charge of Sporting Lisbon, is also among the leading candidates.

Thomas Tuchel could target staff from his former club Chelsea to help in his new role as England manager. The Daily Mail reports the 51-year-old wants to assemble a backroom staff he trusts.

Slovenia forward Benjamin Sesko, 21, is interesting Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail. The 21-year-old is expected to leave RB Leipzig in the summer.

Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei, 21, could leave if he is not given more playing time. The Metro, via Rai Radio 1 in Italy, says Italian Under-21 boss Carmine Nunziata has told him to consider his Blues future in January.
