Offaly GAA club given green light for major development at ground
An Offaly GAA Club has been given the green light for a major development at its grounds.
Shamrocks GAA Club have been granted permission by Offaly County Council for the development at Mucklagh, Tullamore.
The club has been given permission to construct a new astroturf pitch which will involve raising the existing ground level 1.9m to accommodate the Astroturf. The artificial pitch will be a 70m by 40m all-weather sports playing surface with a ball wall 40m in length and in 6m height to the northeast boundary.
The club also plans to install 5m security fencing around the perimeter of the proposed pitch and six 12m high LED floodlights.

The club is also planning to upgrade the existing car parking area and construct a new car parking area, consisting of 108 car parking spaces and two bus parking bays. The car park area will be upgraded with base course, drainage, kerbing, 8m high LED street lighting and landscaping.
Shamrocks also plan to upgrade the existing 10 floodlights on the existing football pitch with LED floodlights and to construct a gym (241.3sq m in size) at the Mucklagh ground.
Planning permission was granted by Offaly County Council with five conditions attached.
