Offaly cycling and touring club members hold successful annual meet

Tullamore Cycling and Touring club members came together on Saturday, July 13, to celebrate their annual club cycle

Tullamore Cycling and Touring club members came together on Saturday, July 13, to celebrate their annual club cycle. Last year the same event was cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions on the day.

This year it was looking dodgy in the early hours of the morning, but cyclists finally got to have their Club day out for 2024. The day went from a heavy drizzle in the morning to basking sunshine by the time cyclists returned to Tullamore. There were two routes to choose from, 80km and 120km.

The 80km group cycled via Clara, Moate, Mount Temple, stopping in Dún na Sí Amenity and Heritage Park for coffee and the 120km group headed for Blueball, Cloghan, Ferbane, Shannonbridge, Clonmacnoise, Ballinahown, Athlone stopping in Kileens in Shannonbridge, all arriving into the Villager Restaurant in Glasson for lunch for 1pm. Cyclists were accommodated in an outdoor seating area which was all setup for 52 TCTC cyclists.

Well done to the Trip Committee and most of all thanks to the staff at The Villager, Glasson and especially all the club members who make the day a great one.
