Judge told man who appeared in Tullamore District Court that gym gear was 'unacceptable'
A MAN who admitted speeding on the Dublin-Galway motor was wearing a pair of green shorts and a black Liverpool FC zip jacket when he appeared before Tullamore District Court.
Judge Andrew Cody asked Jason Sass, with an address at Condron Concrete, Tullamore if he was on his way from training or going to training and added: “Is that an appropriate way to appear in court?”
Mr Sass, who admitted speeding on the M6 at Killavally, Tyrrellspass, Co Westmeath on April 27 last year, said he was coming from a gym in Mullingar.
The court was told he worked for Condron Concrete.
A witness for speeding detection service GoSafe said the vehicle had been travelling at 142kph on a road where the limit was 120kph at 11.38pm.
A fixed charge penalty notice had been issued but it had not been paid.
Judge Cody fined Mr Sass €400 for the offence and told him: “Next time dress appropriately for court please. Unacceptable.”
