Leah Byrne, Emma Molloy and Ellie Lawlor
Best wishes to three players as they say goodbye to the Sacred Heart School, Tullamore jersey
WE are all probably familiar with people around us asking where did the time go?
For our Tullamore Camogie girls Leah Byrne, Emma Molloy and Ellie Lawlor their time playing for Sacred Heart Secondary school came to an end last January when they were beaten by Killina School. While it may be a goodbye to the Sacred Heart Jersey we wish the girls every success in their camogie careers.
After a winter’s break the training season is beginning to come alive again. Tullamore U15 girls have returned to the pitch. Their focus is the Féile na nÓg competitions. They will be working hard to be prepared for County Feile, to be in with a chance to represent Offaly at the All Ireland Féile. Fingers crossed the weather is kinder to the girls this year and pitches remain playable through February and March, the meteorological winter into early Spring.
With the resumption of the camogie season there are some important dates that members might want to take note of:
Ist March is registration day. For those that have queries on registration members of the club will be on hand to answer questions. Members are encouraged to bring along friends who are interested in camogie to meet club members. There will be an opportunity to go through the basics for anyone interested in knowing more. For those who wishes to renew their registration this can be done NOW through Foireann.
14th March it is the annual Tullamore Camogie Club quiz which will be held in Maunsell’s Bar and Lounge at 7.30pm. 40 for a table of 4. There will be spot prizes to be won and it promises to the a night of fun and laughter.
15th March is a return to the pitch for underage camogie groups at 9.30am. Final preparations are underway, and teams will meet new and old coaches on the day. The day will herald the start of the 2025 training season.
17th March is Lá Fhéile Pádraig, St. Patrick’s Day. Yes you have guessed it Tullamore Camogie Club will be taking part in the parade. The parade is Celebrating Heritage and Culture and Tullamore Camogie Club will be showcasing our participation in Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha / the Joe McDonagh award for promoting the use of Irish in GAA clubs. We are calling on members to walk with us in the parade. Ní neart go cur le chéile.
23rd March from 11am to 12pm Tullamore Camogie Club will be hosting a Maidin Caife an Irish morning in the GAA social centre. Club members of all ages are very welcome to come and bring grandparents. If all people say is Dia duit (phonetically pronounced DEE-ah Gwit) all is good. Is fear Gaeilge briste ná Béarla cliste – Broken Irish is better than clever English.
Tullamore Camogie girls were in action for Offaly U14 and U16 teams this weekend. The U14 girls played Tipperary away and the U16 girls played Waterford away. There was no win to report for either team. With more games to come there no doubt Offaly will boast some wins.
