Investigation underway following discovery of man's body at home in Limerick city

Investigations are underway following the discovery of a man's body at a home in Limerick city.

Gardai have confirmed they attended a location in the city after the remains of a man were discovered at the weekend.

It is understood the deceased may have been in the property for a number of days.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí received a report and attended the scene of the discovery of the body of a man, which occurred at a residential premises in Limerick city on the afternoon of Sunday, April 21, 2024."

The body was removed from the scene to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick and a post mortem examination has been conducted, said the garda spokesperson.

The age of the man has not been revealed.

"The results of the post mortem will not be disclosed for operational reasons. A file has been prepared for the coroner. Investigations are ongoing," concluded the garda spokesperson.
