Leinster Post Primary Schools Senior Hurling “C” Final
Coláiste Naomh Cormac, Kilcormac 1-16
Templeogue College 1-7
Coláiste Naomh Cormac got off to a flying start considering the tough conditions, scoring 1-6 unanswered. These scores came from Alex Kavanagh (1-3), Adam Screeney (0-1), Richard Bracken (0-1) and Daniel Hand (0-1, free). After fifteen minutes Templeogue’s number thirteen, Conor Brennan got their first score of the match with a point from a free.
However, Templeogue struggled to keep up with the Offaly side with points coming from Robert Boland, Leigh Kavanagh, and Daniel Hand (free). Scores were hard come by for Templeogue but they kept fighting and Conor Brennan pointed again, from play this time. CNC got the final two scores of the first half with these coming from frees by Daniel Hand. This left the score at half-time CNC 1-11 Templeogue 0-2.
Templeogue would go in to the dressing room at half-time disappointed with their first-half performance, however it could have been a much bigger gap between the teams if it was not for the many brilliant saves made by the Templeogue goal keeper Kevin Hogan.
Templeogue got the second half off to a good start with Conor Brennan scoring a point. Coláiste Naomh Cormac replied with a point from a free by Daniel Hand. Templeogue continued to run at the CNC and they were eventually rewarded when they won a free which was pointed by Liam Mostyn.
During the second half it was really end to end stuff with both teams exchanging scores. Daniel Hand from CNC scored a long-distance point, but Templeogue’s Conor Brennan replied with two points (1 free). Alex Kavanagh kept the CNC scoreboard ticking by adding a point, but Templeogue never gave up and replied with a point.
Down the other end of the pitch CNC scored two points with these coming from Daniel Hand (free) and Adam Screeney (free). Templeogue ended the match on a positive note as they finished with a goal after a scramble around the goals as they eventually got the better of the CNC defence.
After the match Coláiste Naomh Cormac Captain, Charlie Bracken accepted the cup on behalf of his team. Coláiste Naomh Cormac now progress onto an All-Ireland semi-final.
