Celebrity Chef Eunice Power.
People are being asked to support an important fundraiser taking place in the Irish Workhouse Centre Portumna with celebrity TV chef Eunice Power, this Friday March 27 from 7pm.
Eunice is best known from RTE's The Today Show & is the author of My Irish Kitchen Table.
The former dining hall of the Irish Workhouse Centre will be transformed by this Cookery Demonstration and the event is supported by the board of the Irish Workhouse Centre. The aim of the event is to raise further funds to renovate and reimagine the unique space that is the dining hall.
"We look forward to Eunice invigorating the Dining Hall space," said a statement from the board, "with her well-known commitment to local, sustainable, and high-quality Irish produce. Best known from RTE’s Today Show, Eunice is also CEO and founder of the Waterford Festival of Food. With over twenty years’ experience in the industry, her hands-on approach to cooking has won her a loyal fan base, most of all in Dungarvan, home to her successful catering business."
The dining hall was once associated with feeding and sustaining the poor, and the current board are planning to open up this part of the workhouse as an event space for the local community and beyond. Work is underway on infrastructure, heating, staging and seating after generous donations from both local people and many of the diaspora in the U.S. "This is the first event of 2026 after a very successful fundraising campaign last year," said the board. "People's support for this event will help to preserve and restore one of the last remaining Workhouses in Ireland."
With a welcoming glass of wine, your ticket will also offer entry to a super raffle on the night and the opportunity to browse from a selection of local artisan stalls.
Further information can be obtained by calling the reception at the Irish Workhouse Centre 09097 59200. A wonderful night is in store for all foodies and groups looking for a fun night out!
The tickets are €35 and can be bought online from irishworkhousecentre.ie or local outlets: the Workhouse, Hayes&Hayes pharmacy, Holohans Abbey, Harneys Tynagh, Scéal Lorrha, Paddys Terryglass.
