In Roscrea on Wednesday night last, at Biddy’s Bar, Roscrea's community came together in the most incredible way to show support for a local landmark business which suffered a devastating fire last month.
The local soccer club hosted an event to raise funds for the staff of Bernie's SuperValu.
"We are absolutely overjoyed to announce that Killavilla United AFC’s Charity Match raised €20,000 for the staff of Bernie’s SuperValu, Roscrea," the local Club said.
"To every single person who made this possible — our players who came home to wear the Villa jersey once more, our sponsors and donors, the volunteers who gave their time.
"Thanks to Roisín and Amy for organising spot prizes and donations and to Kathleen and Fred who never stopped for nearly four weeks in organising.
"Thanks to Treaty United for joining the cause, to James Scott for taking his time out to coach our girls, to Derek Halpin for refereeing, to Séamus for the pitch and everyone who bought a ticket, shared a post, or simply showed up with heart — thank you from the bottom of ours. You are the reason this worked," the Club said.

"This wasn’t just about money raised. It was about Roscrea showing what community truly means — coming together when it matters most - lifting each other up, and proving that our town has a spirit that shines brighter than any challenge.
"To Brian and the Bernie’s SuperValu team — this is for you. We can’t wait to see you back stronger than ever."
