Man appeared at Tullamore District Court by video link
A MAN accused of arson in Birr told Tullamore District Court he had been waiting weeks for a psychiatric appointment.
Cameron Walsh (27), Monastery Court, Moorpark Street, Birr was speaking from prison by video link to the District Court having been previously remanded in custody.
Mr Walsh is accused of arson at his address in Monastery Court on September 6 last. He is further accused of damaging windows, walls, light fixtures, an oven hob, doors, a toilet bowl, a fireplace, carpets and general household items belonging to Offaly County Council at the same address on dates unknown between August 3 and September 6 last.
Separately, a summons alleges he was drunk in public contrary to the Public Order Act at Tesco car park, Roscrea Road, Birr on April 23 last.
When he appeared by video link Sergeant Brendan Kearns told the court a book of evidence would be ready within a week.

When Mr Walsh made reference to wishing to go to a department of psychiatry his barrister, David Nugent, said that matter would be dealt with at the next court appearance.
Judge Andrew Cody remanded Mr Walsh in custody to Wednesday, December 3 for service of the book of evidence.
