New homes have become available in Roscrea
The completion of 50 new social homes in Roscrea was greeted as a momentous moment in the lives of several families in Roscrea.
Welcomed as “good news” by local representatives, offering hope to local families on Tipperary’s social housing list, Roscrea is bucking the trend in terms of social housing delivery.
The July meeting of the Thurles Municipal District heard that 50 homes at Glencarrick, Roscrea had recently been completed, and were due to go on the council’s Choice Based Lettings (CBL) system shortly.
Choice Based Letting is a system used by Tipperary County Council so those who are on the social housing list and have been approved for homes can express their interest in houses when they become available.

Independent Roscrea Councillor and member of the Lowry Team, Shane Lee, welcomed the expected delivery of the new homes, saying that it was good news for people who are approved for social housing in Roscrea.
Cllr. Lee said that receiving the keys to the new homes is a “life changing moment” for the families who will receive the new houses.
"It’s good news for Roscrea in terms of the development that’s taking place with an Approved Housing Body, within the next 24 hours, we’re going to see 50 new houses for young families and old families, and every type of a family that’s available and qualified for housing from Tipperary County Council,” Cllr Lee said.
"It’s amazing to think that, in the town of Roscrea, a disadvantaged area, we see so much good work going on in terms of housing.

Cllr Lee said the development, led by an Approved Housing Body, would provide urgently needed accommodation for a wide range of families.
"Thankfully in Roscrea, it’s a good news story that we’re going to have at least 50 new houses coming on stream on CBL, and that’s hugely important for those people,” Cllr Lee added.
