LANDOWNERS, farmers and garden owners will get a great opportunity to learn how to create their own wildlife pond during a Workshop to be held near Shinrone during the next couple of weeks.
The Workshop will be taking place on Saturday, the 19th of July, starting at 9:30 in the morning and finishing at 4.30; at The Brambles, Rathcahill, Offaly, R42P688.
If the idea of transforming your garden into a vibrant biodiverse ecosystem appeals, then this Workshop will be for you. It will be a hands-on Workshop where you’ll learn how to create a beautiful wildlife pond that attracts frogs, dragonflies, invertebrates of all sorts and a wide variety of birds.
During the day you will learn the benefits of building a pond. There are multiple benefits, including climate action and biodiversity restoration.
Step by step, you will go through the pond's planning and construction.
Participants will walk the land, discussing possible sites for maximum wildlife attraction.
Participants will go through the subjects of soil testing; setting out the site; planning the work.
You will learn about plant selection, including native aquatic plants that provide food and shelter for wildlife.
Aftercare and maintenance tips will be taught where you'll be shown how to keep your pond healthy and thriving year-round.
