Proposed works will improve pedestrian safety in Borrisokane

PROPOSED roadworks will improve safety in a part of Borrisokane with three housing estates, a meeting of Nenagh Municipal District was told.
During the meeting Cllr Michael O'Meara put forward a motion in which he asked that “a footpath be incorporated on the right hand side of the road leaving Borrisokane town, i.e. the western side of the street heading out the Finnoe Road, in the interest of traffic safety. The carriageway is very wide within a busy pedestrian area.” Cllr Pamela Quirke O’Meara seconded the motion.
A member of the Council Executive responded positively to the motion. She stated: “The Council is developing a proposal for the enhancement of Finnoe Road from Crawford’s corner to the speed limits on Finnoe Road. This will include new footpaths on the right hand side, drainage and road improvements.”
Drainage works will be carried out in 2025 with road improvements scheduled for 2026. Subject to funding, footpath works will be carried out in 2026.
Cllr O’Meara welcomed the response and pointed out that there are “three housing estates in that area which means that it is important that this work is carried out.”
